My main dish for my Valentine’s Day dinner was the Hanger Steak with Shallots from Simply Recipes. (I love her recipes, they work so well.)
Except I couldn’t find a hanger steak and I used onions instead of shallots but there was at least red wine and butter.
I seared the steak on both sides for a few minutes. I transferred the pan to the oven for a few minutes to finish the steaks off while I worked on the side dish.
After the steaks were done, I removed from the pan and added a little butter. I tossed in chopped onions and cooked them for a few minutes. I added a little red wine vinegar.
I poured in a glass of red wine (a Cabernet I think) and cooked it down to about half.
I served the sauce over the steaks. It was a lovely Valentine’s Day and I finished with a little chocolate-Pat’s gift.

Looks yummy. Hanger steaks are definitely worth tracking down. They’re quite gamey, which I love.
This looks delicious, I love a good steak!
Next time, I am going to spend more time looking for a hanger steak. I’ve heard such good things.
