I bought Giada’s new cookbook. I’ve made a few recipes from her show and enjoyed them plus I love cookbooks. I flipped through it at Border’s and there were some fun recipes. I cracked it open and read through 2/3 of it that night.
A few days later I made ricotta cheese. I didn’t actually have a plan for the cheese. I just thought cheese-making would be cool. (It is.) I didn’t have the ingredients for the recipes in the ricotta story in Food & Wine. (Pat forgot bread during his run to the grocery store so I couldn’t broil the ricotta on it which sounded simple and delicious.)
I flipped though the index for my new cook and found a recipe for ricotta coated pasta with green beans under ricotta. I had most of the ingredients and thought it sounded good.
I started the water for the pasta. Got the oil heated and added the garlic. My green beans were frozen so I threw them in with the pasta to cook them. I fished them out and added them to the sauté pan. Oil spatter hit me and I realized that I added them directly when I should have drained them on paper towels first. I turned the heat off the garlic and green beans. I drained the pasta and added it back into the pot with the ricotta. I tossed it and then added the ricotta coated pasta to the sauté pan.
Despite my oil burns it was quite delicious.
