As part of Valentine’s Day dinner, I made broccoli and cauliflower (I atually asked Pat what he would like and this is what he picked).
I had frozen ones and I wanted to lightly saute them. My sister Elizabeth likes to make stir fries and her trick to keep the veggies from getting mushy is to thaw them in warm water before cooking them.
I thawed the broccoli and cauliflower while I smashed a few cloves of garlic and prepped the steak (more on that later).
I heated a pan on low with a few tablespoons of olive oil. I added the smashed garlic and a tsp or 2 of red pepper flakes.
I dried the vegetables on paper towels and added them to the pan. I cooked them for a few minutes, stirring them occasionally until they were tender but still firm. I added a little salt to finish them.
